Rupert Grint, who portrayed Ron Weasley in the film adaptations of the Harry Potter series, will step back into the character's shoes for the Broadway play "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child." Grint, 38, will play an adult version of the beloved wizard.
In a statement released Wednesday, Grint expressed his enthusiasm for the role, noting the full-circle nature of returning to a character who has been a significant part of his life since age 11. "There is something so full-circle and so special about stepping back into Ron's shoes now when we are both fathers; it is somehow both very familiar and completely new," he said. He also highlighted the excitement of returning to Broadway in a role that has defined so much of his career.
Grint is the only one of the three main stars from the film series to return to their roles in the stage production. However, his former co-star Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy, is also currently reprising his character in the same play. Felton's engagement runs until January 3, with Grint scheduled to join the production on February 2 and appear through May 30. The two actors are not slated to appear on stage together.
