Rosalía Stuns in New York with Oversized Handbag and Sky-High Heels
The Grammy-winning artist accessorized a minimalist dress with a custom, meter-long bag and towering Junko Shimada heels, drawing comparisons to 'The Hunger Games.'
Singer Rosalía turned heads in New York City on Friday, sporting an unusually large handbag and dramatic ballet pointe shoe heels. The artist, 34, carried a custom, baguette-shaped bag measuring approximately one meter long and 60 centimeters high. Designed by Dana Toder, the bag features printed graphics incorporating archival photographs of women from the 1970s to the present.
Rosalía paired the striking accessory with a simple black minidress and sunglasses. Her footwear consisted of sky-high ballet-inspired heels with pink ribbons wrapped around the ankles, from Junko Shimada’s spring 2009 collection, which were previously worn by Lady Gaga.
Social media users reacted to Rosalía's bold fashion choice, with some humorously likening her appearance to characters from "The Hunger Games." Comments suggested the bag's size implied it contained little more than a single lipstick, or jokingly referred to it as a suitable carrier for a small dog.
Earlier this month, Rosalía was seen with her girlfriend, model Loli Bahía, at the US Open, where they shared a public display of affection. Rosalía has generally kept her romantic life private but has previously spoken about her approach to relationships and public perception.
Rosalía previously dated Hunter Schafer, with whom she maintained a close friendship following their romantic relationship. The two collaborated on scenes for the upcoming third season of "Euphoria." Rosalía was also previously engaged to Rauw Alejandro, ending their engagement in July 2023.
