Romee Strijd Shares Tearful Account of Victoria's Secret Show Exclusion
Model expresses frustration over the handling of her casting process and last-minute rejection for the upcoming show.
Model Romee Strijd has shared a tearful account of being cut from the upcoming Victoria's Secret catwalk show with only one week's notice, citing that she was told she was 'not a good fit.' Strijd, 31, detailed her experience in a series of TikTok videos released on Monday, explaining that she had attended a casting call in New York in September.
She stated that she only learned of her exclusion from the show, scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on Sunday, this week. Strijd, who previously walked in the Victoria's Secret fashion show annually from 2014 to 2018, described the situation as a "roller coaster mentally." She noted that she had continued training for the show throughout the summer, especially after having two children, to ensure she was physically prepared.
"I trained for it this summer because I had to put a bit more energy in it since I've got two kids and you know how it goes - your body needs a little bit more working out than before," Strijd said in one video. "I felt like I wanted to do the show again even after kids because it felt like the right timing."
Strijd explained that after the initial casting, she heard nothing for weeks, leaving her uncertain about her participation. She expressed frustration with the process, stating, "I don't feel supported by my agency. I don't feel like I have the straight story."
In a second video, after confirming her exclusion was final, Strijd revealed that her agent told her she was informed by the casting director late last week that they "weren't there yet" with her. However, another explanation received was that she was "already released," a statement that contradicted previous information and left Strijd feeling misled.
"The whole story doesn't sum up, which makes me feel even more horrible than not getting the show," she stated. "Just be honest, just tell me and I can go on with my life and let it go, because it's fine."
Strijd indicated that the lack of clear communication and the drawn-out uncertainty caused significant mental stress. She concluded that due to her experience, she does not anticipate casting for the show in the future, preferring to "keep the positive memories."
Fellow former Victoria's Secret model Frida Aasen commented on Strijd's video, sharing that she also went to the casting and received a "no." Aasen expressed her sympathy, writing, "I'm so sad you didn't get it! It sucks but sending you lots of love."
The 2026 Victoria's Secret fashion show is scheduled to take place on October 18 in Los Angeles. Confirmed models for the show include Adriana Lima, Gigi Hadid, Candice Swanepoel, and Ashley Graham.
