The 2026 Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, a 76-foot Norway spruce from West Edmeston, New York, has been cut and is on its way to Manhattan. The tree is expected to arrive on Saturday, embarking on a roughly 200-mile journey to its iconic spot in Rockefeller Plaza.
This year's tree is approximately 75 years old and measures 50 feet in diameter. Following its arrival, it will be adorned with over 50,000 multicolored LED lights and topped with a 900-pound Swarovski star. The official lighting ceremony is scheduled for December 2.
The tradition of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree dates back to 1931, with the first formal lighting ceremony taking place in 1933. After the holiday season, the tree will remain on display until January 9, after which it will be milled into lumber and donated to the nonprofit organization Habitat for Humanity.
