Rob Lowe Names Nastassja Kinski His Best On-Screen Kiss, as Stars Dish on Smooch Scenes

Celebrities are opening up about their best and worst on-screen kisses, with Rob Lowe recently identifying Nastassja Kinski as the standout in his career. Other major stars, such as Nicole Kidman, Sylvester Stallone, and Kate Hudson, have also shared anecdotes about memorable romantic scenes, detailing what made them great or regrettable.

Lowe, discussing his experiences during an appearance on "Watch What Happens Live," recalled filming "The Hotel New Hampshire" with Kinski. He told host Andy Cohen that Kinski was "probably the most beautiful woman I’d certainly ever seen" at the time, making her his best on-screen kiss. However, he also admitted to feeling "very, very scared" to kiss her.

Sharon Stone named Robert De Niro as her best kisser, recalling a scene in the 1995 film "Casino." Stone told SiriusXM’s "Radio Andy" that the kiss was so impactful that both she and De Niro agreed to film it again when director Martin Scorsese offered.

Sylvester Stallone, however, had a less favorable experience with an on-screen kiss. He described his kiss with Talia Shire in "Rocky" as "the kiss from hell," though he attributed the discomfort to Shire having a bad cough and a running nose during the scene, which led to him catching the flu immediately afterward.

Nicole Kidman has been vocal about her dislike for bad breath during kissing scenes. On the "Las Culturistas" podcast, she recounted a moment on the set of "Big Little Lies" where her co-star Alexander Skarsgard ate falafel just before filming a romantic scene. Kidman recalled telling him, "No more falafel. Nope. Not before you kiss. Not before you make love. No more falafel. Put the falafel away."

Kate Hudson has also shared her opinions on her on-screen kisses. During a "Lie Detector Test" segment with Vanity Fair, she compared kisses with Billy Crudup and Matthew McConaughey. She described Crudup as a "gentler kisser" and more "sophisticated," while her kiss with McConaughey in "Fool's Gold" was memorable for less pleasant reasons. "When we were kissing in the end of 'Fool's Gold,' we’re like in the ocean, we had the plane crash. He just had snot all over his face," she explained. Hudson also "canceled" Dane Cook as a kissing partner after their role in "My Best Friend’s Girl."

Sally Field, despite her real-life relationship with Burt Reynolds, cited their on-screen kiss in "Smokey and the Bandit" as her worst. She told Andy Cohen on "Watch What Happens Live" that it was "not something he did very well" and involved excessive drooling was involved.

These candid revelations offer a glimpse into the less glamorous aspects of on-screen romance and the varied experiences actors have when filming intimate scenes.
