RJ Mitte, the actor known for his role as Walter White Jr. in the AMC series "Breaking Bad," died by suicide by hanging on October 12, according to a report citing an inquest. He was 34 years old.
The Cameron County, Texas, document stated that Mitte was pronounced dead at 1:32 p.m. His representative had previously confirmed his death by suicide but had not disclosed further details.
"It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte," a representative told Page Six.
Mitte's mother, Dyna, discovered her son's body when she brought him lunch on the day of his death. She mentioned she had been trying to encourage him to go to therapy for three months, but he had stated he was handling things. Dyna Mitte expressed a wish that she had insisted he seek therapy, believing his decision to end his life may have been "spur of the moment."
Mitte, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at age three, appeared in 56 episodes of "Breaking Bad" from 2008 to 2013. He was also an advocate for actors and others in the entertainment industry with disabilities.
Mitte's final red carpet appearance was on September 30 for the premiere of his movie "Talking to Strangers."
