Rihanna reveals she has 170 unreleased songs
The singer, who has not released a studio album in a decade, teased the massive stash of music during a Fenty Beauty livestream.
Rihanna has amassed a collection of approximately 170 unreleased songs, the singer revealed during a Fenty Beauty TikTok livestream earlier this week. The Grammy winner teased the scale of her unreleased music catalog when asked by a fan, responding that she has "at least 17 vaults" for every ten products in her Fenty makeup line.
The disclosure has generated significant excitement among fans, who have been eagerly anticipating new music. Rihanna's last studio album, "Anti," was released in January 2016 and topped the US Billboard 200 chart. Since then, she has released standalone tracks, including "Lift Me Up" for the "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" soundtrack and "Friend of Mine" for "The Smurfs" movie soundtrack.
Rihanna, 38, has largely stepped away from her music career to focus on her family and build her Fenty empire, which includes Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty lingerie. She and partner A$AP Rocky welcomed their first son in May 2022, a second son in August 2023, and a daughter in September 2023.
Despite her hiatus from releasing full albums, Rihanna returned to the stage in 2023 to headline the Super Bowl halftime show, her first performance in seven years. She also made surprise appearances at Jay-Z's concert at Yankee Stadium in July, performing "Run This Town" and "Bitch Better Have My Money." During the latter performance, she acknowledged feeling "rusty" after a prolonged break from live shows.
A$AP Rocky had previously hinted at Rihanna's return to the studio. In August, he stated that she was "cooking" new music, though he anticipated getting in trouble for sharing the information.
Rihanna's last studio album, "Anti," was critically acclaimed and commercially successful, debuting at number one on the US Billboard 200. Other singles released since then include "Too Good" featuring Drake and "Loyalty" featuring Kendrick Lamar.
