Quentin Tarantino's First Stage Play to Debut in London with Sacha Baron Cohen

Quentin Tarantino is bringing his first stage play, "The Popinjay Cavalier," to London's West End in March, with Sacha Baron Cohen set to star. The production, described as a swashbuckling stage comedy, is being produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sonia Friedman Productions.

The play is set in 1830s Europe and is characterized by producers as "a rambunctious comedy of deception and disguise inspired by the grand swashbuckling epics of stage and screen." Tarantino will direct the production, which marks the West End debut for Baron Cohen, known for his comedic characters Borat and Ali G.

"When the best director in the world calls, you don’t ask questions," Baron Cohen stated.

"The Popinjay Cavalier" is scheduled to begin previews on February 23, with its official opening on March 18 at London’s Phoenix Theatre.

Tarantino, acclaimed for films such as "Reservoir Dogs," "Pulp Fiction," and "Inglourious Basterds," has not directed a feature film since 2019's "Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood." He has also written a screenplay for a sequel, "The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth," which is slated for release in November, with David Fincher directing and Brad Pitt reprising his role. Additionally, Tarantino penned novelizations for both "Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood" and the upcoming film, with the latter set to be published by Harper on December 8.
