Pussycat Dolls Reunion Tour Plagued by Setbacks: Injuries, Sales Woes, and Technical Glitches

The Pussycat Dolls' highly anticipated reunion tour has been marred by a series of unfortunate events, including significant injuries to lead singer Nicole Scherzinger, dismal ticket sales leading to the cancellation of their North American leg, and technical difficulties during performances. The group, consisting of Nicole Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts, and Kimberly Wyatt, has encountered numerous setbacks since the tour's September kickoff.

Tour Cancellations and Ticket Sales

The group initially announced a 53-date tour across the UK, Europe, and North America. However, poor ticket sales forced them to cancel 33 dates in the U.S. and Canada. Despite slashing ticket prices to as low as $30, organizers were unable to salvage the North American leg, pulling the plug just a month before the first scheduled show. The band expressed their disappointment in a statement, but noted that the UK and European dates were proceeding with "incredible" responses and several sold-out shows.

Onstage Incidents and Health Issues

Lead singer Nicole Scherzinger sustained a severe burn injury after accidentally spilling boiling water on her leg an hour before a performance in Germany. She shared images of the burns, but continued with the show, demonstrating a commitment to performing.

Kimberly Wyatt, meanwhile, revealed that she had undergone hip replacement surgery prior to the tour. She shared her struggle with chronic pain and limited mobility in the years leading up to the operation, expressing amazement that her body, after multiple surgeries and childbirths, can still manage to perform.

Ashley Roberts also admitted to experiencing significant anxiety about performing a solo vocal part during the tour. She shared a tearful video detailing her fears and self-doubt, stemming from past perceptions of the group as primarily dancers. Encouraged by her vocal coach, Roberts ultimately decided to perform the solo, finding it a confidence-building experience.

Internal Strife and Technical Glitches

The reunion has also been overshadowed by controversy surrounding the exclusion of three original members: Carmit Bachar, Jessica Sutta, and Melody Thornton. Bachar and Sutta stated they were blindsided by the reunion and not invited to participate, with Sutta calling it a "cash grab." Bachar expressed disappointment but pride in her past contributions to the group.

Adding to the tour's troubles, a reported technical issue in Poland left Scherzinger offstage during a performance of the hit song "Buttons." Roberts and Wyatt were left to perform the choreography to a backing track, leading to fan commentary about the lack of improvisation or vocal fill-ins from the remaining members, with some fans nostalgically referencing former member Melody Thornton's dynamic stage presence.

The tour's UK leg is set to continue, with the group hoping for a smoother experience after a tumultuous start.
