Prince and Princess of Wales Reunite with Tom Cruise at Film Premiere
The royal couple attended the London premiere of Cruise's latest film, 'Digger,' and shared a moment of laughter with the Hollywood star.
The Prince and Princess of Wales rekindled their friendship with actor Tom Cruise at the premiere of his new film, "Digger," in London on Tuesday. The royal couple joined Cruise on the black carpet event held at Leicester Square.
Cruise was seen holding Catherine, Princess of Wales's hand as they engaged in conversation and laughter. The actor has a longstanding relationship with the Prince and Princess of Wales, having known them for several years. He also had a connection with Prince William's late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, and attended her funeral in 1997.
For the premiere, Catherine paid tribute to Diana by wearing a pair of her pearl drop earrings. She also accessorized with the late Queen Mother's amethyst sautoir necklace. Prince William sported a black velvet jacket, which Cruise complimented.
Other notable attendees at the premiere included David Beckham and his sons, Cruz and Romeo Beckham.
"Digger" features Cruise in a role as an oil baron with a mission to rectify environmental damage. The film is directed by Academy Award winner Alejandro González Iñárritu. Early critical reception on social media has been divided. Anne Thompson of IndieWire described the film as a "brave and gorgeous art film," suggesting it may appeal to Academy voters. Conversely, Awards Radar editor Joey Magidson characterized it as a "mess" and "wasn't enjoyable."
The film is scheduled for release in the United Kingdom and the United States on October 2.
