Prada Showcases Knee-Length Skirts Amid Star-Studded Milan Fashion Week Attendance
Actresses and influencers gathered for the Prada presentation, highlighting a return to knee-length skirt styles.
Milan Fashion Week kicked off with a notable return to knee-length skirts at the Prada show on Tuesday, drawing a significant celebrity presence.
The event saw Hollywood stars including Naomi Watts, Emilia Clarke, Michelle Williams, Sadie Sink, Molly Gordon, and Uma Thurman in attendance. Thurman was accompanied by her daughter, Maya Hawke, who is known for her role in "Stranger Things." Also present were model Alexa Chung and influencers Nara Smith and Chiara Ferragni.
With a few exceptions for dresses, the majority of guests wore knee-length skirts, a style championed by Prada designer Miuccia Prada. The skirts appeared in various forms, from Nineties-style slip skirts to pleated versions in bold prints. Options ranged from box pleat, kick pleat, kilt, pencil, slip, and wraparound styles, featuring details such as brocade panelling, chiffon overlays, and sequin embroidery. Sixties prints, slingback shoes, and bowling bags were also prominent elements of the collection.
The collection emphasized skirts as a core component, with bras noted as being intentionally less conventional. The show presented a cohesive vision, adhering to brand staples while introducing new interpretations.
Miuccia Prada, at 77, continues to be an influential figure in the fashion industry. Her designs often set trends that are subsequently adopted by the broader fashion market.
