Powderfinger Reunion Tour Tickets Spark Outrage Over 'Obscene' Prices

The highly anticipated reunion tour of Australian rock band Powderfinger has ignited fan fury over ticket prices, with many calling them "obscene" and more expensive than international acts. The band's "Live 27" tour, their first since 2010, saw general sale tickets ranging from $141 to $233, with VIP packages reaching approximately $510.

Fans took to social media to voice their discontent, comparing the costs unfavorably to those for international artists who must factor in extensive travel and freight expenses. "The price of the tickets is obscene," one user wrote, adding, "Their tickets cost more than an international band who have to freight their gear to Australia as well as travel."

Another fan lamented the timing of the ticket release amid a cost of living crisis, questioning how people could afford such prices. "It's wild we're in a cost of living crisis but somehow tens of thousands of people have $200+ available for Powderfinger tickets," they noted. Concerns were also raised about the availability of comfortable seating at the higher price points, with one fan stating, "I had the option of standing for $500. Get f**ked. I'm old, my back hurts, my hips hurt, I just want to feel comfortable when I see a great Australian band for the first time since I was 20-something."

Despite the widespread complaints about the cost, tickets for the 2027 reunion tour sold out rapidly, with many fans reporting they were unable to secure any. "Started in the queue with less than 1000 people in front of me. Couldn't even get a single ticket," one disappointed fan shared.

Powderfinger is scheduled to tour nationally beginning in September 2027, with performances planned in Brisbane, Cairns, Perth, Sydney, Adelaide, and Melbourne. This marks their first tour in 17 years.

Powderfinger's Live 27 tour has ticket prices ranging from $141 to $510 for VIP packages.
