Paris Jackson has responded to an online critic who commented that her numerous tattoos made her appear "dirty." The singer and model, who has over 80 tattoos, addressed the remark in the comment section of an Instagram post by E! News.
"She is gorgeous, but those tattoos just make her look dirty and takes away from her look," the commenter wrote. Jackson replied with mock panic, stating, "oh no what ever will i do 😰 (i’m dirty even without the tattoos)".
Jackson has accumulated more than 80 tattoos, many of which are tributes to her late father, Michael Jackson. These include the cover art from his "Dangerous" album on her forearm, the phrase "Queen of my Heart" in his handwriting on her wrist, and "Applehead," his pet name for loved ones, on her foot.
She has previously spoken about the significance of her tattoos, referring to them as "loving marks" that cover "scars and past of self-hatred." Jackson, who has been sober from alcohol and heroin for over six years, views the designs as art with deep personal meaning. In 2016, she shared on Instagram that while she knew the ink could be divisive, she appreciated art that held significance for her.
Other notable tattoos include a line in Elvish from J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" on her neck, which translates to "a light from the shadows [shall spring]," and matching rose tattoos with friend Cara Delevingne.
While Jackson often displays her tattoos, she used heavy makeup to cover them for the 2024 Grammys red carpet. The Instagram post that the critic commented on also discussed Jackson's first meeting with her mother, Debbie Rowe, at age 15, and her childhood with Michael Jackson, whom she described as her "best friend."
Jackson is also a singer-songwriter. Her second album, "Happiest Day of My Life," is scheduled for release on August 21.
