Olivia Colman, star of the upcoming fantasy rom-com 'Wicker,' has expressed surprise at the significant wave of viral memes and social media jokes generated by the film ahead of its cinema release. The film, which pairs Colman with Alexander Skarsgård, has become a notable online talking point.
'Wicker' centers on a solitary fisherwoman in a medieval village who commissions a basketmaker to construct a companion for her entirely out of wicker. Speaking at the film's premiere at the BFI London Film Festival, Colman remarked on the unexpected online attention.
"No, literally this has never happened for anything I've done before," Colman told the BBC. "But you put Alexander Skarsgård in an interesting outfit, and everyone is looking."
