Olivia Colman stars in "Wicker," a romantic fantasy that has been described as a lot of fun and hugely entertaining. Directed by Alex Houston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson, the film adapts Ursula Wills-Jones' short story "The Wicker Husband."
Colman portrays a humble fisherwoman in a medieval town. Ridiculed by the townsfolk, she surprises everyone by requesting a spouse from the Master Basket Weaver, played by Peter Dinklage. Her custom-made husband, brought to life by Alexander Skarsgård, is not only courteous and attentive but also remarkably skilled, leading to unexpected consequences and jealousy within the community.
Reviewers have highlighted the chemistry between Colman and Skarsgård, with Skarsgård's performance praised for giving "wooden performances a good name" through effective special effects. The supporting cast, including Elizabeth Debicki as the haughty Tailor's Wife and Richard E. Grant in a cameo as a doctor, also received commendation.
