Olivia Colman Debuts New Grey Hair at Premiere of Eccentric Film 'Wicker'

Olivia Colman, 52, unveiled a striking new look with long, grey hair at the premiere of her latest film, "Wicker," held Thursday at the London Film Festival. The actress, known for her versatile roles, embraced her natural curls and grey tones, opting for an elegant Celine gown for the event at the BFI Southbank.

Colman was accompanied by her husband, Ed Sinclair, with whom she shared a tender moment on the red carpet. The couple has been married since 2001 and has three children together.

"Wicker," described as a film with a "vulgar, horny yet unexpectedly heartwarming" concept, centers on Colman's character, a lonely fisherwoman plagued by a fishy odor. Her life takes a turn when she commissions a basket weaver, played by Peter Dinklage, to create a husband out of wicker. This wicker creation, portrayed by Alexander Skarsgard, 50, comes to life and becomes the object of desire for the village's women, causing jealousy and disrupting the social order.

Skarsgard drew attention on the red carpet for his choice of transparent Saint Laurent shoes and a vibrant gold suit from the designer's 2027 spring/summer collection. Co-star Elizabeth Debicki, 36, also garnered notice in a glittering black suit.

The film's unconventional premise, based on Ursula Wills' short story "The Wicker Husband," has generated buzz since its trailer release. The first trailer featured explicit scenes between Colman and Skarsgard, with one scene showing Colman's character being flung across her bed.

Cast members have spoken about the film's unique nature. Debicki, who plays the unhappy Tailor's Wife, noted that her character's worldview shifts after witnessing the fisherwoman's bold choice in pursuing happiness. Dinklage, as the basketmaker, is described as an outsider who shares an affection for the fisherwoman, seemingly unaffected by her distinct scent.

Colman has expressed high praise for the script, calling it one of her top three favorite scripts ever read. "Wicker" has received critical acclaim, holding a 91 percent "fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes following its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January. The film is slated for release in the US on October 23 and in the UK on October 30.
