Olivia Colman Debuts Grey Hair at Premiere of Eccentric Film 'Wicker'
The actress, 52, sported a new look alongside co-stars Alexander Skarsgard and Elizabeth Debicki at the London Film Festival premiere.
Olivia Colman showcased a striking new look with her long grey hair at the premiere of her latest film, "Wicker," at the London Film Festival on Thursday. The 52-year-old actress paired her evolved hairstyle with an elegant Celine gown, embracing her natural curls after a change from her previous pixie cut.
Colman was accompanied by her husband, Ed Sinclair, and was joined on the red carpet by "Wicker" co-stars Alexander Skarsgard and Elizabeth Debicki.
Skarsgard garnered attention for his choice of footwear, sporting transparent Saint Laurent shoes, and a vibrant gold suit from the designer's 2027 spring/summer collection. Debicki, meanwhile, opted for a plunging, glitzy black suit.
"Wicker," described as "vulgar, horny yet unexpectedly heartwarming," centers on Colman's character, a lonely Fisherwoman whose love life is challenged by a persistent fishy odor. Seeking companionship, she commissions a local basket weaver, played by Peter Dinklage, to craft her a husband out of wicker.
The wicker creation, brought to life and portrayed by Skarsgard, becomes an object of desire, inciting jealousy among the village women and disrupting the social order.
The film's trailer, released in July, revealed graphic scenes between Colman and Skarsgard, surprising viewers. The narrative includes Colman's character engaging in a passionate encounter with her wicker husband after he comes to life and marries her.
Supporting cast members include Phil Daniels, Richard E. Grant, and Elizabeth Debicki, who plays the Tailor's wife, a character deeply unhappy until she witnesses the Fisherwoman's unconventional choice. Peter Dinklage's character, the basketmaker, is an outsider who shares an affection for the Fisherwoman.
Colman has expressed strong enthusiasm for the project, calling "Wicker" one of the top three favorite scripts she has ever read. The film, based on Ursula Wills' short story "The Wicker Husband," has received a 91 percent "fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes following its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
"Wicker" is scheduled for release in the US on October 23 and in the UK on October 30.
