Oasis Stops Sale of Unheard Recordings
The band has filed an injunction to prevent the auction of a collection of tapes valued up to £1.6 million.
A significant archive of unheard Oasis recordings, estimated to be worth between £1.2 million and £1.6 million, has been withdrawn from auction following legal action by the band.
Littleton Auctions, based in Evesham, had announced the sale of a collection that included 63 live performances, soundchecks, and over 100 hours of material featuring Noel and Liam Gallagher from the 1990s. The recordings were originally collected by Huw Richards, who served as an Oasis sound engineer from 1994 until 2001, coinciding with the release of the band's debut album, Definitely, Maybe.
The auction house confirmed that the sale, known as 'The Desk Tapes', was suspended in light of the legal proceedings initiated by the band. Managing director Ben Homer expressed disappointment, stating, "We are very disappointed that we cannot offer this significant archive as planned."
