Noel Gallagher's Guitar Fetches £12,000 at Auction
A 1997 Epiphone guitar owned by the former Oasis guitarist was among several band-related items sold at a recent auction.
A guitar once owned by Noel Gallagher, a co-frontman of the band Oasis, sold for £12,000 at a recent auction. The Epiphone guitar, made in 1997, is believed to be one of five identical instruments gifted to Gallagher by the manufacturer.
The instrument was part of a collection belonging to a former Oasis sound engineer and was later given to Richards, Littleton Auctions reported.
Other items from the collection also attracted significant bids. Eleven framed platinum discs, recognizing over 3.3 million United Kingdom sales of the Oasis album "What's the Story Morning Glory," sold for £2,000. These discs had been presented to the sound engineer by Creation Records.
The auction also featured tour itineraries, promotional materials, and a "Be Here Now" wristwatch, all previously owned by the sound engineer.
Memorabilia from other sellers connected to the band were also up for sale. A rare original concert ticket for The Rain, the Manchester band that eventually became Oasis, sold for £2,400. An early Oasis demo tape achieved £3,600, and a collection of early Oasis photographs sold for £5,400. Additionally, a pair of leather shoes that once belonged to Noel Gallagher sold for £1,200.
However, a baby grand piano, which was featured in the artwork for Oasis's single "Supersonic," failed to sell despite an estimated valuation between £100,000 and £150,000.
