Comedian Nikki Glaser suggested that Parker Posey should return for the forthcoming fourth season of HBO’s The White Lotus while guest hosting Today With Jenna & Friends on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
During a segment in which host Jenna Bush Hager asked Glaser to weigh in on recent pop-culture headlines, Glaser praised news that Season 4 reportedly will be set in France and offered a string of jokes and impressions about how the series might change with the location shift. "That’s so exciting because I love this show and they’re running out of cities," she said, adding, "It’s gonna be White Lotus: Sheboygan soon." She also said, "I mean, I’m excited for Parker Posey to say ‘Moulin Rouge.'" and performed an impression of the accent Posey adopted for the program.
Glaser, who was filling in as guest host on the morning show, also referenced a controversial moment from The White Lotus’ third season that showed actors Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola — who played brothers on the show — sharing an intimate scene. Joking about what might happen in a future season, Glaser quipped that the murder weapon could be a baguette and suggested offhand that some characters might engage in sexual acts, then questioned whether she could say that on daytime television. "Can I say that if I separate it with a ‘da'?" she asked Bush Hager, who laughed and replied that the phrasing sounded more "sophisticated."
The White Lotus, created by Mike White, has earned critical attention for its anthology format and rotating casts. Reports that Season 4 will take place in France prompted reaction from fans and observers, and Glaser’s remarks came as part of lighthearted pop-culture banter on the Today with Jenna & Friends program.
Glaser is one of several celebrities serving as guest hosts on the show this week. The program’s schedule noted that Ayesha Curry would host Sept. 10 and Sept. 11, followed by Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie on Sept. 12. Today With Jenna & Friends airs on weekdays at 10 a.m. Eastern on NBC.
Jokes about future plotlines and returning cast members are common when high-profile shows announce new locations or seasons, and comments such as Glaser’s underscore how The White Lotus has become a frequent topic of discussion across mainstream and entertainment media. HBO has not released a full cast list or detailed plot information for the reported France-set season, and the series’ creator has not publicly confirmed casting from prior seasons.
The on-air exchange drew laughter from Bush Hager and fit the program’s mix of celebrity interviews and light commentary, while also touching on the more explicit, divisive moments that have characterized parts of the series’ recent season.
