Nicole Kidman has ignited a social media discussion after she was seen removing her heels at an afterparty celebrating Chanel's inaugural fashion show in Sydney.
The 59-year-old actress, known for her role in Moulin Rouge, embraced a more casual approach to the festivities, opting to go barefoot. Footage from the event showed Kidman standing with director Baz Luhrmann, wearing a black tuxedo blazer over a white tank top.
Her barefoot appearance quickly became a talking point, with one social media user questioning, "Who walks barefoot in the 21st century??"
However, many fans defended Kidman's choice, suggesting she was simply relaxing and enjoying the party. Comments included "Nicole definitely an Aussie no shoes!!!!!!!!lol" and "Love a barefoot Nicole."
Kidman had arrived at the Chanel 2026/27 Cruise Collection presentation at The Cutaway in Barangaroo wearing black pumps. She was accompanied by her daughter Faith Kidman Urban, who coordinated with her mother in a white Chanel ensemble. Kidman's sister, Antonia Kidman, also attended the event, opting for an all-black outfit.
The Chanel show, which brought the Cruise 2026/27 collection to Australia after its initial unveiling in Biarritz, France, also drew other notable guests, including Margot Robbie and Kylie Minogue.
