Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock surprised fans with an appearance at a screening of their 1998 film "Practical Magic" at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles. The event occurred weeks before the release of the highly anticipated sequel.

A video shared on Instagram captured the audience's excited reaction as the actresses took the stage. Bullock remarked that "Practical Magic" is "the perfect movie to show at a cemetery." Kidman expressed gratitude for the crowd's support in "getting this second film made that’s coming to you very soon."

The sequel, "Practical Magical 2," is scheduled to premiere in theaters on September 11. Joining Kidman and Bullock at the screening were Joey King and Maisie Williams, who will portray Bullock's onscreen daughters in the new film. The four actresses raised a margarita toast, sponsored by Astral Tequila, a nod to a memorable scene in the original movie.

Kidman confirmed in 2024 that she and Bullock would return to their roles as the orphaned sisters Gillian and Sally Owens. The original "Practical Magic," based on Alice Hoffman's 1995 novel, tells the story of the Owens sisters, who come from a long line of witches and are raised by their eccentric aunts.

The 1998 film, which earned $68.3 million globally against a $75 million budget, developed a significant cult following. Author Alice Hoffman has since written three other books exploring the Owens family history due to popular demand. Hoffman told Hey Alma in 2021 that she wanted to delve into the characters' backstories, leading her to write about their history in 1960s New York City.
