Niall Horan Honors Late Bandmate Liam Payne with Emotional Concert Tribute

Niall Horan brought his late bandmate Liam Payne's voice back to the stage during a concert in Birmingham on Tuesday night, leaving fans emotional with a tribute during his song "End of an Era."

In the recorded audio, Payne could be heard saying, "We thought something might happen but never anything like this. I always try to remind myself of where I've come from and where I've managed to get to in my life. It's amazing, really."

In an interview with GQ in March, Horan discussed the aftermath of Payne's death. He explained that he "went into hiding a little bit" after the funeral, which was attended by former One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson. Horan recalled feeling nostalgic, fearful, and sad while looking at photos and videos of their time growing up together. He also spoke about his initial disbelief upon hearing the news of Payne's passing, describing a shift from shock to sadness and anger.

Horan shared a particularly fond memory of Payne from their time at X Factor bootcamp, where they shared a room. He also mentioned seeing Payne in Argentina shortly before his death and that Payne had seemed to be in good spirits. Despite not having seen each other for a while, Horan noted that their friendship instantly felt familiar upon reuniting.

Following Payne's death, Horan posted a tribute on Instagram, stating his devastation and disbelief. He described Payne's infectious energy and passion, his ability to brighten any room, and the security he provided to those around him. Horan expressed gratitude for their shared experiences and the lasting bond of their friendship.
