New Culinary Destinations Emerge Across Australia

Australia's culinary landscape is expanding with the opening of several new dining establishments, each offering unique flavors and experiences. In the Southern Highlands, the Three Blue Ducks have launched a new restaurant at Burradoo Park Farm, a 600-acre regenerative farmland property. This intimate, 45-seat restaurant, led by group executive chef Troy Crisante and head chef Rhys Connell, offers a seasonal menu focused on ingredients grown on the property.

The dining experience at Burradoo Park Farm is shaped by its regenerative farming practices, with dishes like the Cover-crop Salad highlighting this philosophy. The restaurant is part of a larger hospitality offering at the property, which also includes The Bakehouse and The Farmhouse by Three Blue Ducks. Visitors can also engage with the farm through tours, flower walks, and bee talks.

Approximately an hour south of Burradoo Park Farm, Sara Dining has opened at Moraea Farm. Helmed by chef Alex Prichard, formerly of Icebergs Dining Room and Bar, this produce-driven restaurant emphasizes shared plates featuring the farm's harvest and local produce. Standout dishes include wood-fired potato ciabatta, kangaroo tail empanada, and wood-fired butterflied fish.

In the Hunter Valley, Lucia Roche Estate has opened at Roche Estate in Pokolbin. This Italian-inspired restaurant, under the direction of former Savoy Grill chef Jack Zideluns, offers stone-fired pizzas, pasta dishes, and share plates. Popular items include burrata with romesco sauce, Prosciutto Rucola pizza, and Prawn Tagliatelle. The venue also features estate wines and cocktails.

Sydney's The Rocks district welcomes the reopening of The Observer Hotel, a heritage-listed pub transformed by the Barrelhouse Group. The hotel now features a British boozer-style interior with cask ales, traditional pub fare with a modern twist, and a range of spirits and wines. Chef Sam Bull is responsible for the menu, which includes dishes like Hunter Valley scotch eggs and a whisky-drenched dry-aged ribeye.

Coogee Beach has seen the launch of The Terrace at Rick Stein at Coogee, a new 90-seat alfresco dining space. This walk-in-only venue offers a relaxed atmosphere with a seafood-focused menu, including Sydney Rock oysters, sashimi, and Rick Stein's signature fish and chips. The beverage menu features a variety of spritzes, sangria, and cocktails, with a weekend happy hour.

Further north, Darwin is set to experience a taste of coastal Sicily with the opening of Lido at The Leea boutique hotel. Scheduled to open October 12, this poolside venue will offer Italian-inspired dishes using Northern Territory produce. Executive chef Samantha Bennett is at the helm, with menu highlights such as burrata with Humpty Doo figs and barramundi cooked acqua pazza-style.

Additionally, several events are slated to enhance Australia's hospitality scene. Ascend at Aster Rooftop Bar in Sydney offers a new cocktail menu, while QT Sydney and Perrier-Jouët are hosting a progressive dinner. The Brighton Sydney will host its Beach Club event, and Barangaroo will feature The Great Graze food festival.
