My Kitchen Rules Contestants Shock Judges and Co-stars with 'Mummified' Pigeon Dish
A dish described as resembling something from a crematorium prompts harsh criticism and serves as a low point for the team.
Viewers of "My Kitchen Rules" were taken aback when contestants Shane and Jane presented a pigeon dish that drew dismay from both their fellow competitors and the judges. The dish, intended to be a refined masterstock pigeon, ultimately proved to be a culinary misstep.
Jane initially expressed confidence in the dish, telling producers, "It looks beautiful and refined on the plate. I feel this is going to be a 10." However, as the cooking process progressed, Jane admitted concerns about overcooking the pigeon, describing it as "really dry" and "mummified."

In an attempt to salvage the dish, the pair resorted to using a pressure cooker, but this did not remedy the texture issues. Jane lamented, "The pressure cooker didn't do anything! The stupid bird is getting worse and worse. This is an absolute nightmare!"

Ultimately, Shane and Jane served only the pigeon heads alongside a pancake dish. Their fellow contestants were unflattering in their critiques, with one remarking, "This pigeon looks like it has been in the crematorium." Another added, "Pigeon is dry, dry, dry! I did not expect this from them."

Judges Colin Fassnidge and Manu Feildel also voiced their disappointment. Fassnidge stated, "The pigeon was overcooked! You have to serve it pink, otherwise it is overcooked." Feildel added, "It's like you know what to put together... but you don't know how to execute it!"

Following the feedback, Shane and Jane acknowledged the dish was their worst yet but expressed hope for future improvement, with the pair stating, "That was the worst... but hopefully it will be the worst."
