A musician, his pregnant wife, their young daughter, and the family's nanny were discovered shot to death inside a residence in Atizapán de Zaragoza, a municipality outside Mexico City, authorities reported.

An unharmed 6-year-old boy was also found at the scene, according to the State of Mexico Prosecutor’s Office. The victims have been identified as 38-year-old music producer and composer Jonathan Meléndez, his 35-year-old pregnant wife, their 3-year-old daughter, and a 21-year-old nanny.

Meléndez was a keyboardist for the Mexican band Camilo Séptimo, which confirmed his death in a statement shared on Instagram. "We will always remember Honas with immense love and gratitude," the band stated. "Today we honor and celebrate his life, his music, his light and the time shared with those of us fortunate enough to know him and walk the path alongside him."

Authorities believe the killings occurred Tuesday between 5:30 p.m. and 7:40 p.m. Two of the victims were found bound. The prosecutor’s office stated that Meléndez, his daughter, and the nanny had suffered gunshot wounds to the head, while his wife was shot in the back.

Two men, identified as Diego Sebastián "N" and Gerardo "N," have been arrested in connection with the killings. Officials described one of the suspects as an associate of Meléndez. "They allegedly took advantage of a relationship of trust between one of them and the victims to gain access to the residence," police said in a statement.

Mexico’s secretary of security and citizen protection, Omar García Harfuch, stated that authorities acted quickly to apprehend the suspects. "Given the gravity of the crime, the institutions acted immediately and in a coordinated manner," Harfuch said. "The two suspects are now in custody and will be brought to justice."
