Monica Galetti Cuts Ties With Former MasterChef Colleagues Gregg Wallace and John Torode

Monica Galetti, a judge on "MasterChef: The Professionals," has revealed she has cut ties with former colleagues Gregg Wallace and John Torode. Both Wallace and Torode were dismissed from the BBC in July 2025 following separate misconduct investigations.

Wallace was sacked after a misconduct investigation upheld 45 of 83 historical workplace complaints against him. Torode was dismissed after an internal review upheld an allegation that he used an offensive racial slur in 2018.

Galetti, who has been a presenter and judge on "MasterChef: The Professionals" since 2009, had previously shown support for Wallace by 'liking' an Instagram video in November 2024 where he thanked fans for their well wishes. However, in a recent interview with The Times, Galetti stated she has had no recent communication with either Wallace or Torode.

When asked about 'liking' Wallace's video, Galetti appeared uncomfortable and stated, "I don't want to discuss Gregg at all." When pressed about being in touch with either Wallace or Torode after years of working together, she replied, "Not really."

Galetti also reflected on her own experiences with public perception during her television career. Her direct approach on screen led to her being nicknamed 'Nasty Monica,' which she admitted was upsetting in the early years. "I was told 'just be yourself,' so the way I spoke was someone who's very much just fresh out of the kitchen without any media training at all," she explained.

She described the initial impact of viewer reactions as so severe that she avoided watching television and social media. "I remember a couple of nights, I would just crawl into bed with my daughter just to escape that. Then after a couple of years you harden to it," Galetti recalled.
