Mel C to Perform New Song on 'Strictly Come Dancing'
The Spice Girl will debut 'Sweat' with a fitness-themed group routine.
Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm, known as Sporty Spice, is set to perform her new song "Sweat" on Sunday's results show of "Strictly Come Dancing." The performance will feature a fitness-inspired group routine with professional dancers, incorporating elements like skipping ropes, dumbbells, spin bikes, and treadmills. Chisholm, 52, appeared in rehearsals wearing a hot pink crop top and black shorts.
This marks Chisholm's return to the "Strictly" stage after her appearance in 2007 with the Spice Girls, where they performed "2 Become 1." She has stated in previous interviews that "Strictly" is the only reality competition show she would consider participating in, and she has been approached annually.
In related news, contestant Delta Goodrem is expected to return to the dance floor with her professional partner Kai Widdrington. Goodrem, 41, missed the previous week due to a rib injury that required her to rest and sleep upright. She had previously been a top contender on the leaderboard after her performance in week three.
The upcoming Saturday show will also feature discussions about the future of the judging panel. Contracts for judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke are set to expire at the end of the current season, leading to speculation about potential departures. Insiders suggest Ballas, 66, might be considering a move to the United States to be closer to her son, who is a professional dancer on "Dancing With the Stars." The BBC reportedly fears that controversy surrounding the show's new format could prompt judges to leave, especially following the exits of hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly. The terms of the judges' contracts will be up for renegotiation, and any dissatisfaction with new offers could lead to them becoming free agents.
