Meghann Fahy and Aimee Lou Wood appeared to celebrate with unrestrained energy at the Emmys afterparty Sunday night, removing their high heels and joining other guests on the dance floor after HBO’s The White Lotus failed to win in several major categories.
Photographs from the event show Wood with mud on her footwear as she ditched her heels to dance, while Fahy was seen similarly letting loose amid the festivities. The pair’s buoyant post-ceremony behavior followed a television awards telecast in which the anthology series received nominations but was passed over in top prize categories.
Sunday’s Primetime Emmy Awards honored a wide span of programs across streaming and broadcast platforms. The Pitt won best drama series, giving the show the ceremony’s top dramatic honor and providing actor Noah Wyle with his first Emmy for best actor in a drama series. Katherine LaNasa took home best supporting actress in a drama series for her work on The Pitt.
In limited and anthology categories, Adolescence was the big winner, earning best limited or anthology series. Stephen Graham received the Emmy for best actor in a limited or anthology series or movie for his role in that show, and several other acting prizes in the limited-series field went to performers from that program.
Comedy awards were led by The Studio, which won best comedy series, and Seth Rogen, who took the Emmy for best actor in a comedy series and also won best directing for a comedy series. Jean Smart was honored as best actress in a comedy series for Hacks. Other winners across genres included Dan Gilroy for writing in a drama series for Andor and Janus Metz for directing a drama series for the same show.
The White Lotus had multiple nominations across acting and writing categories; several cast members were up for awards but did not win. Actors from the series nominated this year included Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, Sam Rockwell, Carrie Coon, Patricia Arquette, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell and Aimee Lou Wood. The series’ creator, Mike White, had been nominated in directing and writing categories as well.
The post-show atmosphere at the afterparty contrasted with the ceremony’s competitive results. Attendees from nominated and winning programs mingled, danced and posed for photographs. Fahy and Wood’s decision to remove their heels — a practical choice for dancing late into the night and, in Wood’s case, to navigate mud on the grounds — was a visible sign of the informal mood that followed the formal awards presentation.
Awards organizers recognized a range of other programs Sunday night. Cristin Milioti won best actress in a limited or anthology series for The Penguin, while Noah Wyle’s victory cemented The Pitt’s prominence in the drama field. The ceremony also honored nonfiction, variety and reality programming, with wins that reflected the industry’s shifting landscape across streaming platforms, cable and broadcast networks.
Producers and talent will now turn to promotion, development and fall schedules in the weeks ahead, with Emmy success often influencing viewing patterns and industry attention. For Fahy, Wood and other White Lotus cast members, the evening offered a chance to celebrate with colleagues and unwind after a high-profile season, even if the show did not capture several of the night’s top trophies.
