Meghan Markle to Appear on British TV via MasterChef Australia Special
The Duchess of Sussex will be a guest judge on a special episode airing on a Freeview channel.
Meghan Markle is slated to make an appearance on British television later this month as a special guest judge on "MasterChef Australia." The episode is scheduled to air on October 19.
Viewers wishing to watch the Duchess of Sussex will need to tune into the U&W channel, accessible on Freeview channel 25 or through the U streaming service. This appearance comes amidst earlier speculation about her potential involvement in larger productions, including discussions with producers of the Netflix series "The Gentlemen."
Meghan filmed the "MasterChef Australia" special in April during a four-day tour of Australia with Prince Harry. Contestants were challenged to create a dish suitable for a duchess, utilizing seasonal ingredients that were among her favorites. She participated alongside regular judges Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin, and Jean-Christophe Novelli, reportedly requesting to be addressed as Meghan. The episode also featured a video call from Prince Harry.
The program originally aired on Australia's Network 10 in July. Prior to this, Meghan showcased her interest in cooking through her Netflix series "With Love, Meghan," which, despite running for two seasons, did not rank among Netflix's top 300 most-watched programs, according to viewing figures.
A television insider commented on the nature of the appearance, noting that while it marks a return to screens after a significant period, it is not on a major broadcaster. The insider added that "UKTV bosses are hoping it will bring a boost in ratings" and expressed anticipation regarding the British public's reaction.
