Meghan Markle to Appear on British Television as MasterChef Australia Judge
The Duchess of Sussex will be featured on a special episode of the cooking competition, airing on a Freeview channel.
Meghan Markle is scheduled to appear on British television later this month as a special guest judge on MasterChef Australia. The episode is set to air on October 19.
Viewers will need to tune into the U&W channel, accessible on Freeview Channel 25 or via the network's U streaming service, to watch the Duchess of Sussex's appearance. This television engagement comes after speculation about her potential involvement in larger productions, including the Netflix series The Gentlemen.
Sources indicate that Markle's appearance on MasterChef Australia was filmed in April during a four-day tour of Australia with Prince Harry. Contestants on the show were tasked with creating a dish deemed "fit for a duchess," utilizing some of her preferred seasonal ingredients. She joined regular judges Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin, and Jean-Christophe Novelli, reportedly requesting to be addressed simply as Meghan.
The program, which aired on Australia's Network 10 in July, also included a video call from Prince Harry. Meghan's earlier culinary endeavors were featured in her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, though viewership data indicated it did not rank among the platform's top 300 most-watched programs.
Her upcoming British TV appearance will be broadcast alongside reruns of shows such as The Bill and 999 Rescue Squad. A television insider noted that while this marks a return to screens, it is not a major broadcast on a flagship network. The broadcast aims to boost ratings for the channel, and the reaction from British viewers is anticipated to be of interest.
