Maya Jama Responds to 'Cow' Accusation from 'Celebrity Traitors' Viewer
The host addressed criticism on X after a viewer accused her of being overly harsh towards fellow Traitor James Acaster.
Maya Jama, host of "Celebrity Traitors," has responded to a viewer who criticized her on X (formerly Twitter), accusing her of being "a cow" and "fake" towards contestant James Acaster. The incident occurred after Acaster expressed fear about sabotaging the Faithfuls' shields in the Traitors' lair during a challenge.
The viewer's comment suggested Jama was too hard on Acaster in their subsequent discussion about the murder he had just committed, stating, "Maya being a cow towards James. He did the murder in plain sight while she sat there doing pathetic fake yawns." The viewer also noted that other strong Faithfuls were present and that Acaster had his fellow traitor nearby.
Jama countered the accusation, explaining her reasoning for not being the one to deliver the murder line. She wrote, "I wasn't a cow at all & I may delete this later but it's been so interesting watching the takes of some accounts on here when if it was the other way round I would be called all sorts as I already am in this thread. Also we both yawned & only one of us could say the line, he just said it first #noticing." Jama later deleted her response.
During the episode, contestant Ross Kemp became the latest victim of the Traitors' murder, the first to be carried out in plain sight. Kemp's earlier suspicions about Bella Ramsey and Leigh-Anne Pinnock had ironically led to his demise. Acaster, after yawning to inhale the "deadly sleeping powder," then delivered the line, "Sorry Ross, am I boring you?"
The current prize fund stands at £46,000. The Traitors were tasked with sabotaging the Faithfuls' shields by moving puzzle pieces while the other contestants were blindfolded. While Jama and King Kenny removed their blindfolds to participate, Acaster remained behind his, stating he was "too scared" to assist.
This perceived lack of participation visibly frustrated Jama and King Kenny, though they could not address it in front of the other players. Later, in private, they confronted Acaster. He admitted, "I didn't want to be a Traitor, but I'm going to admit something to you now. When I killed Ross Kemp in plain sight, I loved it. And I have enjoyed today more." This confession seemed to ease the tension, with Jama expressing pride in him.
However, viewers on X have speculated that Jama and King Kenny might eventually turn on Acaster due to his hesitant loyalty. Comments included suggestions that Acaster should "man up" and that Jama and Kenny "need to throw James under the bus." Others defended Acaster, viewing his caution as a strategic move given his positioning between other players.
