Maya Jama and Richard E. Grant Named Traitors in Celebrity Version of Hit Show

The identities of this year's traitors on the celebrity version of the BBC show have been revealed as Maya Jama and Richard E. Grant. The second series of the program premiered Thursday night, with host Claudia Winkleman selecting the pair after individual consultations.

Jama, 32, expressed her excitement, stating, "I don’t even know what to say! I’m so excited. I wanted to bring a different side of me out, and here she is. My villain era has begun." Grant, 69, added, "Yes! Absolutely thrilled, and I can’t wait to start murdering. I cannot wait!"

The show's dramatic opening featured celebrities filing into a church before Winkleman arrived in a coffin. "Wow, that was quite the nap," she declared before warning the contestants that their celebrity status would not protect them within the castle, suggesting they should be accustomed to the "fickle" and "backstabbing" nature of showbusiness.

This season's cast includes a range of notable figures such as James Blunt, Jerry Hall, Miranda Hart, Romesh Ranganathan, and Rob Beckett. In anticipation of the premiere, Michael Sheen emerged as the surprise favorite to win the entire competition, according to odds released by ActionNetwork.com. The "Good Omens" star has odds of 7/2 to triumph.

Richard E. Grant is listed as the second most likely winner with odds of 9/2, followed by "The Last Of Us" star Bella Ramsey at 5/1. Singer James Blunt and comedian Miranda Hart are tied for fourth place with odds of 11/2.

A spokesperson for ActionNetwork.com commented on the odds, noting Sheen's potential to convincingly play a traitor due to his acting range, potentially filling a role similar to Jonathan Ross from the previous series. They also observed that Grant, with odds of 9/2, could embody a wise figure, capable of being either a cunning traitor or a trusted faithful. Regarding who might be named a traitor, Romesh Ranganathan leads the market at 5/2, with the possibility that comedians on the cast might face heightened suspicion given Alan Carr's success as a traitor in the past season.

The launch episode of the previous season attracted over six million viewers. With anticipation high, viewing events are being organized in various venues across Britain, including pubs and bars in London, to accommodate fans eager to watch the unfolding drama.
