Margot Robbie drew attention on the red carpet in London Thursday night, arriving for the premiere of A Big Bold Beautiful Journey in a bejeweled, nearly-nude gown from the Armani Privé spring 2025 couture collection.

The floor-length dress featured an intricate shimmering paisley-and-floral motif, a daring open back and a nearly sheer skirt that revealed a matching shimmery thong. Robbie wore minimal accessories — diamond earrings, a cocktail ring and silver stiletto sandals — letting the embellished gown dominate the look. The appearance was billed as a glamorous tribute to Giorgio Armani, who died last week at 91.

Robbie, 35, who became a mother less than a year ago, returned to the public-facing portion of her promotional campaign two years after the global success of Barbie. Earlier on Thursday she was photographed on the rooftop of the Corinthia Hotel in a minimalist two-piece set inspired by a 1998 Thierry Mugler design — a look styled by longtime collaborator Andrew Mukamal, who helped shape Robbie’s Barbie-era press appearances.

She posed on the carpet with co-star Colin Farrell, who wore a black suit and tie with a trench coat. The premiere in London is part of the international rollout for the film, which is scheduled for release on Sept. 19. Sony Pictures released the first trailer in June.

A Big Bold Beautiful Journey follows Sarah (Robbie) and David (Farrell), two strangers who meet at a mutual friend’s wedding and are pulled into an otherworldly adventure that sends them back to pivotal moments in their pasts. Early footage shows the pair discovering a door in the woods that acts as a portal to core memories, including David’s unrequited love and Sarah’s recollections of her mother’s death. The cast also includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Hamish Linklater, Lily Rabe, Billy Magnussen and Jodie Turner-Smith.

Critics and fans who viewed the trailer this summer posted enthusiastic reactions on social media, with some describing the footage as a contender for the year’s best film. Representatives for Robbie and the film’s distributor did not immediately respond to requests for comment about the red-carpet tribute or whether the choice of Armani Privé was coordinated with the designer’s house following Armani’s death.

Robbie’s red-carpet moment follows a period away from public appearances to start a family and marks what observers called a return to the modern Hollywood glamour that characterized much of her pre-Barbie wardrobe. The premiere attracted a mix of industry figures and television personalities, and images from the event circulated widely on social platforms and in news coverage.

A Big Bold Beautiful Journey opens in cinemas on Sept. 19.
