Pop titans Madonna and Taylor Swift shared a moment at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, posing for a photograph together.
Swift arrived at the event with nine nominations, including for Video of the Year for "The Fate of Ophelia." She is also nominated for Artist of the Year, Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Choreography, and Best Visual Effects.
Swift has the opportunity to surpass Beyoncé for the most VMA wins of all time, as both artists are currently tied with 30 awards.
Madonna led the nominations this year with 11 nods, competing in categories such as Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for "Confessions II (The Film)," Best Dance, Best Art Direction, and Best Choreography. She is also nominated for Best R&B for her collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter, "Bring Your Love."
Other notable nominations included Ariana Grande with seven nods and Sabrina Carpenter, also with seven nominations.
Swift's "The Fate of Ophelia" is nominated for Video of the Year, directly competing against Madonna's "Confessions II (The Film)" and Grande's "Hate That I Made You Love Me."
