Lucy Punch Tapped for Marks & Spencer's Holiday Campaign

Lucy Punch, known for her role in the BBC comedy "Motherland" and its spin-off "Amandaland," is set to star in Marks & Spencer's upcoming Christmas advertising campaign, according to reports. The 48-year-old actress is said to be replacing Dawn French, who has previously featured in the retailer's food advertisements.

This year's campaign will reportedly be Marks & Spencer's first to combine both fashion and food into a single advertisement. Punch's character in "Amandaland" frequently wears M&S clothing, making her a seemingly natural fit for the brand.

A source told The Sun on Sunday that filming for the campaign, which has a significant budget, has already taken place. The source added that Punch's involvement is intended to promote both the fashion and food ranges, and that the advertisement is expected to be revealed in November.

Last year, "Amandaland's" Christmas special drew over 3.1 million viewers, positioning it among the top ten most-watched programs on Christmas Day.

Punch has previously discussed the success of her character, noting that the portrayal draws from various individuals she has encountered. She described the character as a composite, containing both endearing and "horrific and obnoxious" traits, allowing for complexity and relatability.

While acknowledging similarities between herself and her on-screen persona, Punch also noted differences, stating she hopes to be more self-aware and less pretentious than her character. She also expressed surprise at the character's enduring popularity over the past decade, attributing the show's longevity to its initial script and cast.

Marks & Spencer and Punch's representatives have been contacted for comment.
