Lucy Punch Tapped for Marks & Spencer's 2026 Christmas Campaign
The "Amandaland" actress reportedly replaces Dawn French in the retailer's festive advertising.
Lucy Punch, known for her role as the alpha mum Amanda in the BBC comedy "Motherland" and its spin-off "Amandaland," is set to star in Marks & Spencer's upcoming Christmas campaign, according to reports from The Sun on Sunday. The 48-year-old actress is expected to replace Dawn French, who has featured in M&S Food TV advertisements since 2021.
This year's campaign will reportedly be the first time the retailer combines its fashion and food ranges into a single advertisement. Sources indicate that the campaign, which has already been filmed on a significant budget, aims to leverage Punch's popularity and her character's association with M&S clothing seen in "Amandaland." Filming has reportedly concluded, with the campaign expected to launch in November.
Previous M&S Christmas campaigns have featured a range of personalities, including Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Hannah Waddingham, Jennifer Saunders, Tan France, and Zawe Ashton. "Amandaland" achieved considerable viewership, with its Christmas special ranking among the top ten most-watched programs on Christmas Day last year, drawing over 3.1 million viewers.
Punch has previously discussed the appeal of her character, noting that "Amandaland" is relatable because people recognize elements of the character in individuals they know. She described Amanda as a composite of various people, a character with both endearing and obnoxious traits that allow her to function socially. While acknowledging similarities to her on-screen persona, Punch also stated she hopes to be more self-aware and less pretentious than the character she portrays.
