Lucy Davis Jokes About Incurable Cancer During Games Night
The Office star, diagnosed with stage four breast cancer, shared a lighthearted post about a games night with friends, attributing a loss to her illness.
Lucy Davis, 53, the actress known for her role as Dawn Tinsley in Ricky Gervais's sitcom The Office, is embracing life following her diagnosis with incurable breast cancer. Over the weekend, Davis shared an Instagram post from a games night with friends, humorously blaming her cancer for a poor performance in the game 'Celebrity'.
"We played ‘Celebrity’ which I was terrible at so I blamed my cancer," Davis wrote, alongside a photo that included a dog she is looking after. "A wonderful and much needed games night with good friends! ... Thank you guys for coming! Love you all ♥️ #gamesnight."
Davis publicly shared her diagnosis in August, stating at the time that she was unsure of her remaining time but felt "at peace with whatever comes next." She also mentioned that doctors had indicated it was "too late" for chemotherapy. Despite her health challenges, Davis has continued with her work.
Last week, Davis engaged in a playful rivalry with Canadian actress Caroline Rhea, who also portrayed Aunt Hilda Spellman in different iterations of Sabrina the Teenage Witch. The two actresses promoted a VIP meet and greet event in Salem, Massachusetts, through a humorous Instagram video. In the clip, Rhea claimed to be the "OG" Aunt Hilda, while Davis, who played the role in Netflix's The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, playfully asserted her own position.
Their promotional video highlighted their upcoming event, titled 'Two Hildas Fly Into A Bar,' featuring a meet and greet with photos and autographs. Rhea expressed excitement about sharing stories from their lives and their experiences playing the same character.
