Love Island winners Julia and Lorenzo appeared on the daytime show "This Morning" on Monday, facing an interview marked by awkward exchanges and fueling speculation that they may have already split just a week after the show concluded.
The couple secured the £50,000 prize in the live final in Mallorca the previous week. However, since their return to the UK, they had not been publicly seen together until their joint television appearance. Lorenzo had also been observed liking posts on other women's Instagram accounts, a detail that heightened concerns among viewers.
During the interview with hosts Josie Gibson and Paddy McGuinness, Gibson directly addressed the rumors, asking, "Now there's a lot of rumours that you're not together... Are you together - and what is this terminology?" Julia sat beside Lorenzo with a stony expression as he responded, "As we've left the villa, we're still in the same place, exclusively dating…"
Julia interjected, confirming, "Yes, we are still dating." Lorenzo described the days since the final as "crazy" and stated that "everything needs to settle down," after which "we're going to go on some lovely dates." This prompted Julia to bluntly ask, "Where's the date?"
When asked if they had exchanged the "L-word," Lorenzo replied, "No but it's going that way." He added, "Feelings are developing, it's in the right position… so I feel like give it some time…" The clothing business owner suggested a rooftop bar for their first date, but Julia again pressed, "When?" and "When's my date?" She also questioned, "When was the last time we saw each other?" Lorenzo indicated that the date "had a lot of planning involved."
Fans on social media platform X expressed doubt about the couple's relationship. Comments included claims that Lorenzo "basically used her to get to the final with ZERO consideration for the fact he was playing with Julia's feelings to achieve it" and that they appeared "unconvincing about their own connection or win."
Prior to the interview, viewer concerns about a potential split had surfaced after Lorenzo was seen liking photos of other women on Instagram. Some fans drew parallels to the breakup of previous Love Island All Stars winners, Samie Elishi and Ciaran Davies, shortly after their season. Others criticized Lorenzo's actions, with one user writing, "I'm really disappointed Lorenzo damn man u have a girl but you can't keep ur hands off liking other womans pics on insta, ur so bad wtf! Our Yulia deserves better."
The couple had announced they were "exclusively dating" towards the end of the series, indicating they were no longer interested in other contestants. However, Lorenzo's online activity led some viewers to believe they had already parted ways.
