Lisa Snowdon Confirms Split From Fiancé George Smart After 12 Years

Lisa Snowdon has confirmed her separation from fiancé George Smart after 12 years together, stating that the couple drifted apart. The presenter and model, 54, announced she is now single and expressed excitement about her future.

"Now I'm feeling like maybe it's even more in my second act now, being 54, because I'm single," Snowdon said on Ateh Jewel's Second Act podcast. "I'm feeling strong. I'm feeling happy. I'm feeling excited about what the future is."

Asked about the difficulty of ending a relationship at 54, Snowdon stated, "Age didn't come into it at all. I think it was more people change. We both changed. You grow apart. That's what happened."

She added that while there were "some great times" during their over ten years together, she refuses to view the relationship entirely negatively. "It's just like, people change and now what's going to be my future, you know? It's just quite exciting."

Speculation about the couple's relationship had been ongoing for months, fueled by Snowdon being seen without her engagement ring and Smart's absence from her social media.

The couple rekindled their romance in 2014, having initially dated years prior after meeting through MTV. Smart proposed just before Christmas 2016, and Snowdon announced their engagement the following month, describing him as "selfless, honest, kind, wise, calm and thoughtful."

Snowdon had previously expressed reservations about marriage, suggesting last year that it might alter a relationship that was already working well.

Reflecting on relationships, she noted that people sometimes stay in them due to the uncertainty of a completely different life post-breakup. "Communication is key. You know, you've got to communicate with each other. And you've got to be honest with yourself as well: does this feel right anymore?"

She continued, "A lot of people want to stay in because it's more comfortable. You don't want to rock the boat. You don't know what else is out there. You don't know what life looks like. It's a whole reshift. It's a whole complete change." However, she concluded, "if it's not right anymore it's not right anymore. And you just can't stay in a relationship that isn't right."

Snowdon, who previously had an on-off relationship with George Clooney from 2000 to 2005, is not actively seeking a new partner and has been traveling alone. She recently took a solo trip to Bali for a wellness retreat, followed by a visit to Sri Lanka, experiences that prompted reflection on her future desires.

"I just feel like I just want to have an adventure by myself. Like I've just come back from solo travel. What do I want? What do I need? Where do I want to go?" she said. Snowdon is "really comfortable" in her own company and is open to a new relationship if one arises but is not actively searching.

She added, "I just want to do things. I want to see my girls. I want to see my family. I want to travel. I want to learn some new things."

The end of her relationship with Smart has not led Snowdon to regret not having children with him. When asked if the breakup made her reconsider that path, she replied, "No, I just think like, just move on, move forward. Life's too short. It's going too fast. I want to live in the moment, in the now, and just keep focused."
