Lily Allen Vows to Quit Vaping After Using It as a Crutch Post-Divorce
The singer revealed her intention to stop vaping, citing it as a coping mechanism following her split from actor David Harbour.
Singer Lily Allen, 41, has announced she is trying to quit vaping, an habit she described as a crutch and coping mechanism following her divorce from actor David Harbour. Allen, who previously advertised e-cigarettes in 2019, stated that vaping is "not serving me any more" and that she feels she is in a good enough place to quit.
Allen turned to vaping while writing her album 'West End Girl', which details the breakdown of her marriage. She described the writing process as involving "a Parliament Light in one hand, a vape in the other, and lots of crying, lots of storytelling." She added that if she did not vape, she would likely smoke cigarettes, which she considers "disgusting."
Allen and Harbour, star of 'Stranger Things', met on Raya and married in Las Vegas in 2020. They legally separated in early 2025 after four years of marriage, with divorce proceedings following soon after. 'West End Girl' touches on alleged infidelity and the difficulties of an open marriage.
Harbour previously commented on the album, stating that while he respected Allen's right to use her experiences for art, his own experience of their marriage breakdown was different. Allen responded to his comments by calling them "generous" and praising his acting abilities, noting his Emmy nomination and win for his role in HBO's 'DTF St. Louis' shortly after her interview was published.
