Singer Lily Allen marked the Melbourne leg of her "West End Girl" tour on Wednesday night by bringing the narrative of her marriage's dissolution to the stage. The performance at Rod Laver Arena, the first of two sold-out shows, was structured as a continuous theatrical production rather than a traditional concert, closely following the 45-minute tracklist of her album of the same name.

The album, released last year, chronicles the breakdown of Allen's marriage to "Stranger Things" star David Harbour, delving into the disagreements that led to their separation. The show incorporated apartment-style sets, props, and multiple costume changes, including a "receipt" dress adorned with designer shopping bags.

During the performance, Allen remained in character, guiding the audience through the album's depiction of marital strife, from discussions of an open relationship to the subsequent heartbreak. At one point, as Allen detailed elements of the split, an audience member shouted, "F*** you, David!" The interjection was met with cheers from the arena, according to the Herald Sun.

Harbour has previously stated he respects Allen's artistic expression, though he has noted that her portrayal of their relationship differs from his own experience.

Mental health and relationship breakdowns formed the core themes of the performance, with musical highlights including "Tennis," "Madeline," "Just Enough," and "Dallas Major." Allen broke character only at the end of the show to thank the audience and accept flowers. These performances represent Allen's largest headline tour to date. Allen and Harbour were married for four years after meeting in 2019.
