Lily Allen Launches Sex Toy Line Inspired by Tour

Singer Lily Allen has launched her own line of sex toys, a venture conceived during downtime on her West End Girl tour. The collection, a collaboration with sexual wellness brand Lovehoney, aims to champion the importance of self-love.

Allen's new line, titled 'Love, Lily', features six items: a Heart, a Peach, a Wand, a Womanizer, an Advent calendar, and a polka dot Butt Plug. The return of the polka-dot butt plug is a nod to its previous use as merchandise for her West End Girl album.

"The butt plug was a reference on the album that we then made into a limited collection of USBs, which became a really popular collector's item," Allen explained. "So we thought it would be fun to make it properly and launch it almost a year to the day since we released West End Girl."

Allen described how the idea for the collection originated while she was staying at a London hotel during her tour. A large box of Lovehoney products arrived, and she tested them during her "down-time." "Everything with my Love, Lily stamp of approval has been tried and tested and it means I'm genuinely enthusiastic about what lies inside," she stated.

This is not Allen's first foray into discussions around self-love and pleasure. She previously collaborated with Lovehoney six years ago, inspired by her writings on the subject in her book. She noted that at the time, public discussion of pleasure was less common, but believes conversations have progressed, though more openness is still needed.

"I think women in particular can find it difficult to ask for what they want," Allen reflected. "We don't always prioritise our own desires because we focus on pleasing others... We can forget that listening to what our body needs is just as important. There are so many physical and emotional benefits in exploring ourselves... it's self-care - there's no shame in it."

Steve Thomson, Marketing Director at Lovehoney, commented on the evolution of conversations around self-pleasure since their initial collaboration with Allen in 2020. "For this collection, Lily tried the range herself and chose the products she genuinely loved," he said. "We hope it gives people an accessible starting point to explore their own pleasure."

Allen added that toys can aid in understanding one's body and desires, which can be empowering in relationships. She hopes the collection will foster similar feelings of empowerment in others.
