Levon Hawke, the 24-year-old son of actors Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, has been cast in his first leading movie role in the indie drama "Twenty-Seven." He is set to star opposite Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins, who will play his character's mentor.

The film, written and directed by Gregory Caruso, follows a 27-year-old aspiring screenwriter grappling with obsessive-compulsive disorder and relationship challenges while pursuing success in the film industry. Hopkins' character is an 80-year-old mentor and friend battling Parkinson's disease.

Production is currently underway in Los Angeles, with no set release date announced. Caruso told Variety that he envisioned Hopkins for the mentor role and expressed awe at the actor's involvement, noting that Levon Hawke "meets him in every scene with real vulnerability and intelligence."

"Twenty-Seven" explores themes of uncertainty in young adulthood and the importance of supportive relationships. Caruso described the film as being about "the uncertainty of growing up, feeling stuck between where you are and where you want to be, and the people who help you find your way."

Levon Hawke has been building his acting career, with previous credits including the 2023 miniseries "The Crowded Room" and his father's 2023 film "Wildcat," which also featured his sister, Maya Hawke.

He also appeared in the 2024 films "Blink Twice," directed by Zoë Kravitz, and the Western thriller "The Thicket," alongside Peter Dinklage. Hawke made his directorial debut in 2024 with the play "Picture Day" and graduated from Brown University with a degree in philosophy. He has also worked as a model for brands like Prada and Celine.

Ethan Hawke has addressed the topic of nepotism, referring to himself as a "nepo father" and acknowledging that children often follow their family's professional paths. He also has two younger daughters, Clementine and Indiana, with his wife, Ryan Hawke.
