Lauren Bennett, known for her work with the group LMFAO, died in May at the age of 36 after suffering a severe reaction to a prescribed medication, according to her father, Richard Bennett. He stated that medical professionals and NHS services failed to treat his daughter appropriately for five months leading up to her death.
"Months before her death, Lauren experienced a severe reaction to a prescribed medication," Richard Bennett said in a statement. "As a family, we all rallied around her and did everything we could to support her. We have no suspicions regarding the circumstances of her death, only deep disappointment that, for five months, medical professionals and NHS services failed to treat her appropriately during her time of greatest need."
The specific medication Lauren Bennett was taking has not been disclosed. Her father described her as "deeply loved" and someone who "will be missed every day for the rest of our lives."
Bennett's passing was confirmed by her former group, GRL, in a statement. "It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Lauren," the statement read. "Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us. We will forever cherish the love, laughter and countless memories she gave us. Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved."
Bennett, originally from Kent, England, leaves behind a six-year-old daughter, Harlow. She also performed with her brother Ryan in the duo BENNETT, which focused on folk, country, blues, and rock music, forming in 2017.
One of Bennett's most notable songs was "Party Rock Anthem," released in 2011. The track achieved significant international success, spending six weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reaching the top spot in 20 countries. Bennett last posted on Instagram in February, sharing a cover of Nancy Sinatra's song "These Boots Were Made for Walkin'."
Her father requested privacy for the family as they grieve.
