Lara Stone Reveals Breast Cancer Diagnosis

Lara Stone, the Dutch supermodel and former wife of comedian David Walliams, has announced she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. The 42-year-old described the diagnosis as a "huge shock" but expressed gratitude that the disease was detected early.

Stone shared the news on Instagram on Saturday, using the occasion of Breast Cancer Awareness Month to encourage others to be vigilant. "I don't often share my personal life online, but if this post will make just 1 person check their breasts, or make that appointment they've been putting off, it's worth sharing. Please don't ignore changes to your body," she wrote.

Her announcement has led to an outpouring of support from friends and colleagues in the fashion industry, including supermodel Karen Elson and M&S model Laura Bailey. Stone, who has graced the covers of Vogue and fronted campaigns for major brands, did not disclose when she was diagnosed, the stage of the cancer, or the specific treatment she is receiving.

Stone was married to David Walliams for five years, and they share a son, Alfred, who is now 13. She later married British property developer David Grievson in 2021, with whom she has a younger son, Bob. Stone has previously spoken about the challenges of divorce and maintaining a positive co-parenting relationship.

Her personal health news comes at a difficult time for her ex-husband, David Walliams, who had his publishing contract with HarperCollins terminated in December following allegations of inappropriate behavior towards female employees. The publisher announced it would no longer release new books by Walliams and would also cease publishing his existing back catalogue. Walliams has denied the allegations.
