L'Oréal Elnett Hairspray Was the Secret to Victoria's Secret Models' Bombshell Hair

Models at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show relied on a drugstore classic, L'Oréal Paris Elnett Unscented Hairspray, to achieve their signature bombshell blowouts. The $16 hairspray, known for its ability to provide shine and movement without stiffness, was a go-to product for stylists backstage.

Dimitris Giannetos, a stylist who worked with models including Alessandra Ambrosio, praised the hairspray for creating "luxurious, effortless Angel" looks with a "soft, glamorous bounce." The product's formula is humidity-resistant, brushes out easily, and does not leave a sticky residue, offering a flexible hold that can last up to 72 hours. It is available in both unscented and scented versions.

First introduced in 1960, L'Oréal Elnett Hairspray gained a cult following by offering a counterpoint to the rigid hairsprays popular at the time. Its enduring appeal is shared by celebrities such as Kate Middleton and Jennifer Lopez, in addition to numerous consumers.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, a former Victoria's Secret Angel, has previously spoken about her fondness for the product, telling Refinery 29 that the scent of Elnett Hairspray instantly transports her back to her early modeling days. "If I could sum up my career in one scent, it would be the L’Oréal [Elnett] Hairspray," she stated.

Reviews from shoppers echo the sentiment of professional stylists and celebrities. One customer noted that the hairspray holds curls effectively while remaining flexible, avoiding a "helmet head" appearance, and brushes out cleanly. Another described it as "the holy grail" of hair products.
