Kylie Minogue is scheduled to headline the AFL Grand Final pre-game entertainment this afternoon at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The 58-year-old pop star has spent the week rehearsing for her 20-minute performance, which will also feature fellow Australian artist G Flip.
Fans unable to attend the event can watch Minogue's performance on Channel Seven and 7Plus starting at 1:39 p.m. AEST. G Flip is slated to begin the entertainment at 1:25 p.m., with the official match between the Brisbane Lions and Fremantle commencing at 2:30 p.m.
Minogue expressed her feelings ahead of the show, stating, "I am nervous, excited right now. I am all those things." She added, "When it comes to just about to go on, maybe I will feel right at home. I don't know." The singer, who grew up in Melbourne, will be performing on home turf.
During rehearsals, Minogue was seen at significant heights above the stadium on a podium, performing a song and dance routine while secured with a safety harness. She was later photographed in a distressed shirt dress emblazoned with the words "I'm home."
The Padam Padam hitmaker is expected to perform for a sell-out crowd of 100,000 at the MCG. Reports suggest Minogue will receive a substantial payment of $3 million for her performance, according to New Idea. The AFL had previously confirmed that securing Minogue for the event was a long-standing goal.
