Kim Kardashian Celebrates 46th Birthday in Paco Rabanne Chainmail
The reality star donned two archival couture caftans for her birthday dinner in Beverly Hills.
Kim Kardashian marked her 46th birthday with a family gathering in Beverly Hills, showcasing a penchant for vintage Paco Rabanne chainmail. The Skims founder celebrated at Baldi restaurant at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, wearing two distinct haute couture caftans from Paco Rabanne’s fall 1996 collection, as styled by Law Roach and Olivier Rousteing.
Kardashian arrived in an emerald green metal mesh mini caftan, adorned with a matching jeweled headpiece. The dress featured a plunging neckline and a slit that revealed her undergarments. This initial ensemble was complemented by black stiletto mule sandals from Paris Texas. Inside the venue, she changed into a second, blood-red version of the same design. This second look was accessorized in a manner consistent with its original runway presentation, featuring a red beaded headpiece and an oversized cross necklace.
The birthday celebration was attended by several family members, including her mother Kris Jenner, sisters Kylie Jenner, Khloé Kardashian, and Kourtney Kardashian, as well as her brother Rob Kardashian. Video from the event showed Kardashian blowing out candles on a large cake.
This celebration follows an earlier birthday event for Kardashian, who also marked the occasion with a trip to the Philippines alongside boyfriend Lewis Hamilton. For that celebration, she wore a macramé top by Mark Fast.
The recent choice of Paco Rabanne pieces holds significance given Olivier Rousteing’s appointment as creative director of the fashion house in July. Rousteing, who previously had a long collaborative relationship with Kardashian during his tenure at Balmain, reportedly assisted in the selection of her birthday outfits. Kardashian has a history of wearing Balmain designs, including a campaign with ex-husband Kanye West in 2014 and an appearance at the 2016 Met Gala. She has even humorously credited Rousteing with a role in the conception of her daughter North, having worn a Balmain gown the night she conceived her.
