Kevin Simm Slams 'The Voice UK' as 'Waste of Time' for Winners

Liberty X frontman Kevin Simm has voiced strong criticism of The Voice UK, labeling the popular talent competition a "waste of time that never does anything for the winners." Simm, who won the show in 2016, later became the lead singer of Wet Wet Wet.

Despite achieving victory on the program, Simm expressed bewilderment at its continued presence on television, asserting that it offers little benefit to those who emerge victorious. "As much as my time on The Voice was brilliant, I do think that show is just a waste of f*****g time," he told Closer magazine. "It never does anything for the winners, why is it still on television?"

Simm had participated in The Voice with the aim of reviving his music career. His comments come as Liberty X and fellow pop group Hear'Say are set to reunite for a joint arena tour. The tour will feature all five original members of Liberty X—Michelle Heaton, Jessica Taylor, Tony Lundon, Kevin Simm, and Kelli Young—and four original members of Hear'Say: Danny Foster, Kym Marsh, Suzanne Shaw, and Noel Sullivan.

Hear'Say emerged from the reality show Popstars, while Liberty X were runners-up on the same program. Myleene Klass of Hear'Say will not be participating in the reunion due to a busy schedule.

Meanwhile, reports also indicate that Sir Tom Jones has declined an offer for a "super guest judge role" on The Voice UK following his dismissal as a main coach. Jones, who had been a coach on the show for 13 years, was reportedly not pleased with the proposal of a "much-reduced" guest appearance after his unceremonious exit from the main panel, which saw Cheryl and Aitch join the lineup for the upcoming 15th series.
